21 Days of Devos - Day 19

DAY 19 | Trusting God's Timing | Lauren Winecoff

There is something about process that God loves. He did not place fully formed diamonds into creation. Instead, He created carbon and designed the slow transformation that forms them. Pearls did not exist at the creation of the world. God created clams that would undergo a shaping process over time. Even our Savior did not redeem humanity with the snap of His fingers. Jesus was sent as an infant, grew as one of us, and lived a full earthly life according to the Father’s perfect timing. God’s timing is always intentional.

Think for a moment about how many miracles, teachings, and parables we would not have today if Jesus’ ministry began at His death and ended at His resurrection. This does not diminish the unmatched sacrifice He gave for us. Without His shed blood and resurrection, our hope would be empty. But the journey to the cross gave us countless moments that reveal God’s heart and faithfulness. We read about blind eyes opened, lepers healed, crowds fed, and a friend named Lazarus raised from the dead. Salvation had not yet been accomplished, yet people were blessed simply because they were walking with Jesus.

The promise you are believing for may not be fulfilled yet, but that does not mean God is silent. He is moving in your life with purpose as you stay present with Him. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait on the Lord are renewed. Waiting is not wasted when God is in it.

As we seek God’s kingdom first during these 21 days, I want to encourage you not to focus only on the destination you hope to reach. Pay attention to what God is doing in you today. The life of Jesus shows us that God works powerfully in the journey and always keeps His promises in His timing.

Many of us find ourselves waiting on a promise. So ask yourself: what in this journey reflects the goodness and timing of God? If you are struggling to see it, look again. He is always good, always present, and always on time. You can trust Him with the destination. And as you seek Him first, His desires become yours, and in due season, you will reap a harvest if you do not give up.
